Paul Ellison gets his hands dirty after nappies, bottles and prams dumped at beauty spot

Date published: 26 April 2016

Paul Ellison took matters into his own hands this week, when he personally removed large quantities of dumped waste from a popular dog walking area.

Dirty nappies, cans, bottles and broken prams were just some of the items removed from Sherbourne Road, Middleton that had been thoughtlessly dumped there last week.

Mr Ellison said that getting his hands dirty was the only way to ensure that the problem was removed.

After being contacted by fellow resident Wyn Hyland who was disgusted by the dumped waste, Mr Ellison arrived on the site on the Hollins estate to clean up the area.

He said: “This area is used extensively by dog walkers and children playing and it is unthinkable that someone would use the space to dump waste like this. Although this is not council land, fly tipping is certainly an issue and in general not enough is done.

Wyn Hyland said made special thanks to Mr Ellison for his swift action. She said: “I have never seen anyone move so quick, it looks so much better. Paul listens and does something about it.”
