Falinge bowed out of the cup at the semi-final stage on penalties with a Herculean showing of teamwork and desire on Monday 25 April.

Falinge were setting their sights on an unprecedented league and cup double in their cup semi-final against the Cardinal Langley ‘A’ team.

The host took control of the early stages with Falinge working hard to keep the scores level.

The Falinge boys grew into the game and begun creating chances of their own with a Callum Harrison volley bringing a good save from the keeper. Despite a number of excellent saves from Man of the Match Liam Dawson, Cardinal Langley took the lead on the stroke of half time. Half time 1-0.

Half-time and Falinge were encouraged to believe that one goal would turn this game by inspirational Mr Jundi and Mr Hodgson.

Second half and Falinge came out all guns blazing and creating a number of opportunities. With Falinge winning all of their individual battles it allowed them to show their footballing prowess.

The Falinge pressure told when Callum Harrison excellently headed home a pinpoint cross.

The Management’s half time words were looking prophetic when Harry Roche almost gave Falinge the lead when his 30 yard drive was tipped out of the top corner by the keeper.

Falinge continued to press but couldn’t find the decisive goal.

Full time 1-1.

Extra time couldn’t separate the sides and the match went to penalties where Cardinal Langley won 4-3 sudden death.

The strong first half performance followed by a second half performance full of teamwork, desire and the ability to overcome adversity left both Mr Jundi and Mr Hodgson feeling extremely proud of the lads.
