Littleborough flies the flag for St George
Date published: 23 April 2016
Littleborough businesses are flying the flag for St George today.
St George is the patron saint of England, as well as Portugal, Germany, Aragon, Catalonia, Genoa and Venice. In England, his feast day is celebrated on 2 April.
The Lancashire flags in Littleborough centre have been replaced with that of St George so Church Street, Hare Hill Road and Victoria Street are awash with red and white. The flags were organised by The Shoe Closet and local resident Shaun Wilde helped Mark Jones from Yankee Heaven to put them up.
The King Bill pub at the top of Shore has pulled out the bunting and the flags in celebration.
D.K. Motors joined in by proudly displaying the flag and Oasis Tanning in Dearnley put up bunting and balloons.
St Andrew's Church at Dearnley will be hosting a St George's Day concert tonight with music from the Wardle Anderson Brass Band. See our events page for details.
