Children walking for Springhill Hospice
Children got their walking shows on on Friday (22 April) in a sponsored walk to raise money for Springhill Hospice.
Nine children aged up to three years took part in the walk, organised by Bluebells Childminders, all the way from Castleton to the Springhill Hospice tea rooms, where early celebrations were held for St George’s Day.
Michelle Turner, who works for Bluebells Childminders and helped organise the event, said: “I was overwhelmed with the support we got. We only had nine families and yet we managed to make £500. It’s great that so many people are so generous. Springhill Hospice is a brilliant charity and deserves every penny.”
She added: “I think they were surprised at how young some of them were. Of course some of them had to be in prams because they were under one year old, but they still participated as far as we’re concerned.
“It was an absolutely wonderful day and I can’t thank everyone enough for all the sponsorship.”
