Hamer Community Primary School

Date published: 18 April 2016

We would like to thank the Early years families who worked together to produce some wonderful creative models of mini-beasts over the Easter Holidays. You’ve all clearly worked together with fun to produce some fantastic creations which are on display.

Thank you to the children who gave up some holiday time to attend extra classes in preparation for the SATS exams and to their families for their support in allowing this to take place. You really are the best.

The Year 6 Community Cohesion Ambassadors were out again this week at Marland Hill working on their speeches together with their colleagues from Marland Hill school and Rochdale Sixth Form College. The speeches are coming along nicely and are filled with some really creative ideas around how to make Rochdale an even better town.

The Head of Schools for Rochdale MBC and a further school advisor spent the whole day looking at teaching, learning and school leadership. They spent lots of time in classrooms, interviewed staff and children and the outcomes were incredibly positive for Hamer school. There will be a formal report generated and this will be published on the website for parents to access as soon as it arrives. Well done Hamer children for showing the evaluation team what an amazing bunch you are.

We would like to thank parents for sending the children in looking very smart for their school photographs. The photographs will be available to order soon.

Mr Moore, Ms Bi (Chair of Governors) and several other members of our Governing Body were out at an Ofsted preparation seminar at Marland Hill on Wednesday evening. Our last inspection was three years ago in October which means that we are likely to be inspected again at some point next academic year.

Football, gymnastics, cricket and Multi-sports clubs have all started this week. The children talked to some of the School Inspectors this week to say how much they enjoyed our enrichment programme and extra activities.

Good luck to the Hamer Football Team on Saturday they are playing a match at half-time on Saturday at Rochdale Football Club to mark “National Kick Racism Out of Football Day.” We will report more next week about the event.

Just a quick reminder, the Bag2School collection will be on the morning of Friday 22nd April. Please bring your bags of clean clothing, shoes etc. outside the main reception front door of school before 9am. Thank you for your support.
