Falinge Park High School 8 vs 0 Beech House

Date published: 18 April 2016

Team Falinge complete their league campaign with a comprehensive win that secured promotion despite having only 9 players onThursday 14 April.

With promotion in their sights, Team Falinge attacked from the first whistle and went ahead when the Falinge goal machine Tom Hartley opened the scoring with a cool finish.

After a passage of dominant attacking play, Chris Bonde found a typically classy finish to double the Falinge lead. Team Falinge continued to create openings and Tom Hartley unerringly put away another chance. The first half scoring was complete when Matt Macrae rose like a salmon at the back post to power home a header. Half time 4-0.

Half-time and Team Falinge had inspiration coursing through their veins after another beautifully nuanced team talk from managerial duo Mr Jundi and Mr Hodgson (aka Van Gaal and Giggs).

Second half and Team Falinge didn’t allow their numerical disadvantage stop them playing fluid football with Harry Roche and Man of the Match Atif Latif pulling the strings in midfield. The goals continued when Harry Roche stooped to head home and the ball bounced in off his knee, which was quickly followed by a clever Chris Bonde finish. With the Falinge corners causing havoc all afternoon, Tom Hartley picked up a clearance on the edge of the area and smashed home to complete his hattrick. The goalscoring was complete when Callum Harrison capitalised on a defensive lapse to poke the ball home. Full time 8-0.

Mr Jundi and Mr Hodgson have both been extremely proud of the lads throughout this successful league campaign. In all games the team has shown strong commitment, teamwork and ability to overcome adversity. The focus now switches to achieving an unprecedented league and cup double!

Squad: Liam Dawson, Matthew Macrae, Trey Doyle, Tom Hartley, Callum Harrison, Atif Latif, Yusuf Khan, Chris Bonde and Harry Roche (c).
