Chippy had 100 cannabis plants upstairs
Date published: 13 April 2016
Alfred Ogg, a chip shop owner from Whitworth who was hiding 100 cannabis plants in a room upstairs, has been given an 18-week jail sentence suspended for 12 months.
Ogg was visited by police officers in October 2015 at his chip shop on Market Street, where officers found the plants along with growing equipment.
Burnley Crown Court heard how the search resulted in 97 plants, a large filter, fans and light bulbs with a collection of plant pots.
Ogg, 44, who pleaded guilty to producing cannabis, was also ordered to pay £200 costs.
