Top marks for Springhill Hospice’s catering service

Springhill Hospice has been awarded a five star rating by Environmental Health after an unannounced inspection found excellent food hygiene at the Hospice.

The rating is highest that can be achieved and shows that the Hospice has complied with statutory obligations.

So impressed was the inspector with what he saw that he asked to speak to the operational manager to pass on his congratulations and to say that the Hospice’s kitchen was one of the best kitchens he had ever visited.

Julie Perry, the Hospice corporate services manager, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded five stars. It is incredibly important that we achieve the highest possible standards of food hygiene.

"Linda Fardon, catering manager, and her team have worked exceptionally hard to achieve this rating and are committed to maintaining our excellent standards. An accolade such as this is down to good leadership and excellent team work and we are very proud of our catering team.”
