Teenage girl coaxed down from Littleborough railway bridge

Date published: 05 April 2016

A teenage girl with mental health problems had to be coaxed down from a railway bridge in Littleborough yesterday (Monday 4 April).

Officers attended the arches on Church Street at 1.26pm after reports that the girl had climbed over to the wrong side of the railway and was stood overlooking the road.

Trains were suspended for a short time but were running as normal by 2.00pm.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed that police officers were on scene for approximately half an hour, during which time the girl was coaxed down and taken to hospital for a check-up.

No one was injured in the incident, and traffic returned back to normal within minutes.
