Danielle Tomkins raises £700 for autism charity

The family of an autistic teenager has got together to raise hundreds of pounds for his cause.

Danielle Tomkins, who teaches at Middleton Technical School, organised a special Family Fun Day at Boarshaw Working Men's Club to raise awareness of the condition and raise money for Autism UK.

Her younger brother James Tomkins is autistic, which has had a knock on effect on the family, prompting them to raise funds.

Mum, Carla Tomkins, also helped with the organisation of the event, which raised £700.

She said: "It was an excellent day and we are really happy with the money we made.

“Danielle put a lot of work into the event through Middleton Technology School and it is a matter close to her heart because of course her brother is autistic.

“He was also delighted with the day, he kept saying it was his party, which I suppose in a way it was.”
