Woodcraft clog-fest

Date published: 01 April 2016

Over 100 people attended an Easter holiday event at the Rochdale Pioneers Museum to mark 90 years of the Woodcraft Folk.

The Woodcraft Folk is a co-operative educational movement for all young people that is designed to inspire them in their development towards a more co-operative and peaceful future.

‘Oakenhoof Folk Arts’ of Littleborough played folk music, clog danced and also taught visitors how to clog dance.

Clare Hirst, Manager at the Rochdale Pioneers Museum, says: "The event was an amazing example of how the Rochdale Pioneers museum is being used to actively live co-operation in the town.

"We were delighted to have our friends, the ‘Oakenhoof Cloggers’ to come along and make this event extra special, we have never seen the atmosphere in the museum so electric – a big thank you to them.

"We are looking forward to planning many more co-operative inspired events at the museum to get all the community invovled.’’

The museum is currently holding an exhibition entitled ‘ Woodcraft- the first 90 years’ which will run until 16 April.
