Balal Amin: Banned driver jailed after high speed police chase
Date published: 31 March 2016
Banned driver Balal Amin who led police on a high speed chase through the streets has been put behind bars.
The Rochdale man was spotted by police in Accrington on 2 February having failed to give way, but then sped off, prompting officers to follow him.
The 21-year-old proceeded to race through the streets, smashing through no entry signs and driving the wrong way down one way streets before finally being arrested.
Officers found that he had cannabis in his possession and was using cloned registration plates.
Amin, from Milkstone Road, told police he had driven from his girlfriend’s house in Rochdale. It was later found that his car was registered at her address under a false name.
Appearing at Burnley Crown Court, Balal Amin was jailed for six months and disqualified from driving for 15 months.
