Date published: 29 March 2016

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was sexually assaulted in Rochdale.

The 26-year-old man was walking across a field near to Abbott Street between 6.00pm and 6.20pm on Wednesday 9 March 2016 when he was approached by the offender and sexually assaulted.

The victim managed to flee and reported the incident to police.

It is not known if the offender is a man or woman but they have been described as about 5ft 5in tall, of slim to medium build and was wearing all dark clothing with the hood up.

Detective Constable Donna Rollinson said: “The victim was understandably shaken by what happened and he did the right thing alerting police.

“Unfortunately we don’t have a clear description of the offender, but want to find them so they don’t target anyone else in this way, so if you witnessed the attack or have any information at all that you think may be relevant, please get in touch.”

Anyone with information should police on 101 quoting incident number 1839/080116 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
