GMP Concert Band and Rochdale Freemasons raise funds for local flood victims

Date published: 25 March 2016

A sell out concert performed by the Greater Manchester Police Band and organised by local Freemasons at their Rochdale Masonic Hall on Richard Street, raised £500 for victims of the recent floods.

The thirty strong Police Band entertained by playing a wide selection of music commencing with a trumpet fanfare, followed by a programme of both traditional and modern scores.

They closed the concert with a rousing rendition of Jerusalem and a special encore of the famous Dambusters theme music, which was well received by an appreciative audience.

James Rothwell, function organiser at the Masonic Hall, said: ''It was an excellent evening and my personal thanks go to the GMP Band and all our guests who attended and contributed to the floods donation money raised on the night.

“Building on the success of this event we are now planning a Bavarian Evening in October and also inviting the Police Band back to our venue early next year.''
