Blackstone Edge fire not suspicious

Fire on Blackstone Edge, Littleborough
The moorland fire which took hold on Blackstone Edge last night (23 March) is not being treated as suspicious, it has been confirmed.
Rochdale Online reported as the fire was still alight that flames had taken hold at approximately 8.00pm.

Crews have since confirmed that although two fire engines were sent up from Rochdale and Littleborough, grass beaters were used and the fire was extinguished without too much damage in about half an hour.
Heywood crews were on standby for backup but they were not needed. No one was hurt in the incident.
