Driver crashes and assaults police after high speed chase

A suspected drink driver assaulted a police officer and crashed into a parked car during a high speed police chase.
Officers attempted to stop the driver of a Ford Focus car on Spotland Road at 12.35am on Monday after he was seem driving erratically.
When he failed to stop the police began to chase him, which ended in him crashing into a Hyundai car on Edenfield Road.
The driver then assaulted a police officer and was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
He is due to appear at Rochdale and Bury Magistrates Court on 9 May.
