Beech House School
Date published: 23 March 2016
Beech House Year 11 Pupils were delighted with their English and Mathematics IGCSE results when they were published this term with 90% of the candidates achieving a C grade or above in both subjects. Even better 60% of the Year group achieved a grade A or A*.
Year 9 and 10 went to Skills North West, once again held at Event City, to help in their search for colleges and ultimately careers. This year was as big as ever with companies from BT, ITV, AO and Aldi. There were the usual Forces represented and apprenticeships from the area.
All took full advantage of the exhibits, and the opportunity to discuss courses and entry requirements. The pupils succumbed to the enticing chocolate as prizes this year, and Gareth Tattersall came very close to winning an iPad by having the fastest time building pipes.
The staff showed their prowess when both Mrs Grange and Mr Sartain, in a game of fastest reflexes, beat pupils from our own and other schools to win a £5 voucher each. Hamza Arshad fought off, the rivals and bagged himself an Easter egg in another competition.
However, the highlight for many pupils, besides getting their nails and hair done, was silly pictures to take away as a souvenir of their day.
Daisi Daniels entered the Inter-School Championships held over the last 2 days here in Les Houches, France. Following her success both at the Anglo Scottish & BSA Champs, France, in January and the English Championships in Italy in February where she took Overall Under 14s 1st place at both the events. She has taken the overall under 14s title at the Inter-Schools Championships in addition.
