Film will showcase what’s great about Rochdale

Date published: 22 March 2016

Hopwood Hall College media students have been making a video to promote Rochdale town centre.

Jayne May, Rochdale Town Centre Management Liaison Officer, contacted the College after hearing about work the students had done for other local organisations.

Jayne and her manager Mark Foxley gave the students a brief to create a film and a series of radio adverts highlighting what’s great about Rochdale including: the excellent community and business spirit within Rochdale, the fact that it’s full of wonderful heritage such as the Victorian masterpiece that is Rochdale Town Hall, the many regeneration projects that are improving the area and its thriving night time economy, with lots of restaurants and publics houses.

A group of three students worked on the job, calling themselves ‘Dentro Media’;
Vincent Boardman, 18, from Littleborough, took the role of Director, Christopher Chadderton, 17, from Royton, edited and Finley Chadwick, 17, from Rochdale, was the Producer.

Finlay is pictured filming in the Grade I listed Rochdale Town Hall which is said to be one of the finest municipal buildings in the country.

Vincent and Christopher are pictured filming at Rochdale Tram Station, which opened two years ago next week on 31 March 2014.

Vincent said: “This project has been an absolutely fantastic, as I now know how to work production schedules around business owners, while at the same time meeting our own demands”.

Jayne and Mark were delighted with the students’ work. Jayne said: “We were delighted with the quality of what the students had produced; they met the brief 100%.”

Mark Foxley added: “The students have been a pleasure to work with and are a credit to the staff in the College and media department; we wish them every success progressing onto university. Thanks to everyone involved."

The video will be completed by 23 March and once it is completed you can watch it on Rochdale Online.
