Kingsway Park students visit Bury College
Date published: 22 March 2016
Kingsway Park High School, Rochdale, took part in taster sessions for various apprenticeship subjects, such as IT and construction at Bury College.
The sessions were held at the launch of the college’s new Endeavour Centre – the £3.5m facility which now houses computing and ICT, carpentry and joinery, and plumbing courses.
Several sessions challenged gender stereotypes, where youngsters got hands-on experience of various subjects not typically associated with their gender, such as hairdressing and childcare for the boys, and joinery and engineering for the girls.
The college encouraged individuals to learn more about apprenticeships as a valuable career progression route, especially those they may not have considered before.
