Super Science and Shakespeare Week

St John with St Michael CE Primary School in Shawforth held a 'Science and Shakespeare Week'.
The children have looked at the life cycle of plants, Carl Linnaeus and his classification systems, habitats, growing, planting broad beans, doing controlled Flowering Plants experiments.
The compared flowers similarities and differences and linking this in with Shakespeare’s play “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” through role play, poetry and Shakespearean phrases that are still used today.
They held two rotational activities afternoons where they made flower sculptures from wire, used digital art to create flowers, made movies with the I-Pads and looked at Van Gogh and his Sunflowers painting.
At the end of the week parents and members of the community came into school and helped the children plant trees from The Woodland Trust.
They have been looking at Easter Around The World and making lots of lovely items for Easter.
Linking in with this they visited The Lighthouse Methodist Church in Whitworth for an Easter Experience.
