The ladies of Littleborough Rugby Club are gearing up for an Easter trek from Blackpool to Rochdale to raise money for their junior mini players.
Four determined women will get their walking shoes on this Friday (25 March) and will trek over rivers and moors in a 48 mile trip which is expected to take 12 hours, including a beautiful sunrise trek over Blackburn moors.
The journey will start from Blackpool tower at 9.00pm, walking through the night to reach the moors by early morning before finally reaching their final destination at Littleborough Rugby Club at 12.30pm.
Becky Gibson said: “We know it’s a long way to go but we’ve been training quite a bit and taking long walks in the area. It will be a challenge but I think we can do it.
“Obviously we can’t walk down the motorway so we’ve used a route planner and it involves going over Blackburn Moors. We can’t go over them in the dark of course, so we are going to have to get the timing right. We should be crossing the moors just as the sun is coming up, which I imagine is going to have some lovely views.”
At the time of publication, £1,000 had been raised.
