Broadfield Primary dance champs groove to first place

Date published: 21 March 2016

Dance-loving pupils from Broadfield Primary School made all the right moves to win gold medal at the Performing Arts Festival.

The year 5/6 pupils (aged 10-11) took to the floor before the eyes of a judge on Wednesday 16 March at Rochdale Town Hall, where they danced their way into the top spot over other Rochdale schools.

As well as taking first place, they were awarded a whopping 92 out of 100.

Deputy Head Gemma Holt was so proud of them that she decided to get the trophy engraved for them as a keepsake. She said: “We are all so proud of the kids, they did brilliantly. They were bouncing off the walls afterwards because they did so well and I think winning really meant a lot to them.

“The judge gave them all proper dance awards and medals as well as the trophy that they got for winning, so it was really great for them. To get 92 out of 100 is a great achievement and they should all be very proud of themselves.”
