St Anne’s 3 - 6 Falinge Park High School

Date published: 21 March 2016

Thursday 17 March saw Team Falinge continue their march to the top of the league with a comprehensive attacking display.

Team Falinge attacked from the first whistle and within moments of the game starting a diagonal ball put the Falinge goal machine Tom Hartley through to open the scoring. Soon after, a goal of the season contender doubled the Falinge lead.

Good play by Man of the Match Noorul Islam, fed in Tom Hartley who supplied a pinpoint cross for Callum Harrison to volley home. A further goal apiece from Tom and Callum extended the lead after a St Anne’s goal had threatened a comeback.

The Team Falinge dominance was secured by an own goal, after great play by Harry Roche before he added a goal of his own. Half time 1-6

Half-time and in the absence of Mr Jundi (aka Van Gaal), Team Falinge were left wonderstruck by the tactical nous shown by the better half of their managerial duo, Mr Hodgson (aka Giggs).

Second half saw Team Falinge looking to press home their advantage and were only denied by an inspired goalkeeping display. The Falinge dominance was strong from back to front with Harry Roche grabbing the bull by the horns in the middle of the pitch and opening up a number of chances. As Team Falinge pushed on, St Annes hit back with two quick penalties.

Full time 3-6.

Both the Falinge and St Anne’s management were impressed with the football shown by the team and the Falinge management are constantly impressed with the teamwork, resilience and commitment shown by all the boys.
