Teenage girl with rope around neck rescued by police

A teenage girl who was found with a rope around her neck was rescued by police officers in the nick of time.

Officers spotted the girl in the early hours of Saturday 12 March in a car park off Oldham Road, after receiving calls that she had gone missing from an address in Rochdale.

The girl was returned to the address but later visited by paramedics who took her to Royal Oldham Hospital.

A tweet from Greater Manchester Police Special Constables said that a “high risk” female was spotted with the rope around her neck but that it was cut off in time.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Shortly before 2.15am on Saturday 12 March 2016 police received a report that a girl was missing from an address in Rochdale.

“Officers found the girl in a distressed state and was taken home, where she was checked by paramedics.”

North West Ambulance Service confirmed that the girl was visited and was taken to Royal Oldham Hospital.
