PGL Trip

Last weekend our PE department took 42 year 7’s to PGL in Lincolnshire. Throughout the weekend, pupils conquered many fears on various activities, sang their hearts out around campus and had an enormous amount of fun. PGL staff commented on the children’s enthusiasm and engagement through the course of the weekend, whilst staff in the PE department thought they were an absolute pleasure and a credit to the school. Here are some comments from our students:

Pamela Sadiki: “PGL was amazing, I could fight my fears, spend more time with my friends and get to know them a bit more. The activity that I enjoyed the most was the high ropes because I’m a bit scared of heights. The staff were really kind, you didn’t have them bossing us about. They made sure that we all ate and really cared for us.”

Alex O’Keefe said: “It was SO fun, the food was really nice and I got to spend loads of time with my mates. I really liked the trapeze, zip wire and the high ropes. All the staff were really funny, nice and encouraging when we were doing the activities.”

Cambridge University

A group of students from Cambridge University came to speak to a group of 60 of our gifted and talented Year 11 students who had an interest in attending university as part of the University access programme. The session was extremely enlightening for students who gained a great amount of insight into life at University and became enthused about the thought of entering further education in a range of different fields.

The Year 11 students left the room buzzing and excited about the next steps in their education.

Student, J. Kelly who is in year 11 commented: “The evening completely changed my thoughts about the type of person who could attend Cambridge University. It has certainly taught me not to stereotype people! I never thought it would be possible for somebody like me to attend Cambridge. It’s taught me that you do need to work hard, but with the right attitude anything is possible.”

Yr 11 updates:
The Art exam is rapidly approaching, week beginning Mon 25 April. All pupils must be working on building up their portfolios in order to demonstrate their learning journey to the examiner.
