Police hunt Castleton “teen” burglars

Date published: 14 March 2016

Police are appealing for witnesses after burglars forced their way into a Castleton home in the early hours of Sunday morning (13 March).

Three males believed to be in their mid to late teens were caught on CCTV breaking their way into a house on Heywood Road, Castleton at 3.30am, but were met by two angry dogs which frightened them away.

The males had previously approached a CCTV camera and tried to turn it around but by doing so made their faces visible, and the police say that they now have a clear image of them to work with.

After the dogs started barking, the burglars fled the scene without taking anything with them, and are believed to have left in a van.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Officers were called shortly after 3.30am after reports that there had been an attempted break in. It is believed that there were three males in their mid to late teens.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
