End of an era for Jubilee Inn?
Date published: 11 March 2016
Clements Court Properties has submitted plans to replace the 170-year-old Jubilee Inn, on the tight Milnrow Road bend on the outskirts of Newhey, with eight houses.
The landmark pub, which dates back to the 1840s, once stood on the other side of the road but was moved brick-by-brick to its current plot in 1863 to accommodate the railway from Rochdale to Oldham.
There were plans to reopen the building as a pub two years ago but they fell through.
If permission is granted, developers plan to build four semi-detached houses and a row of four terrace homes on the site.
As the pub is just over the Rochdale border, the plans will go before Oldham Council Planning Committee in the coming months.
