Rochdale and Littleborough Peace Group thank Rochdale

Rochdale and Littleborough Peace Group has thanked the people Rochdale for the support shown for CND’s Stop Trident march and rally last month.

At its regular monthly meeting tonight (9 March 2016), the group heard that long-standing campaigners travelling from Rochdale to London on 27 February had been joined on the coach and in Trafalgar Square by many new local campaigners, some attending a national demonstration for the very first time.

The group gave particular thanks to Rochdale Trades Council, Rochdale Unison and many individual campaigners who had made donations to help fund the cost of travel from Rochdale to London.

On behalf of the Peace Group, Philip Gilligan said: “Support for the campaign against these evil, useless and very expensive nuclear weapons of mass destruction is clearly widespread across Rochdale Borough.

"Not everyone was able to travel to London on such a cold winter’s day, but many were keen to show their support for the campaign to stop the government’s crazy plans to waste billions of pounds on so-called ‘Trident Renewal’ in other very practical ways.
