Healthy eating with Rochdale Connections Trust

Date published: 08 March 2016

Primary school pupils have been taking part in a new scheme to promote healthy eating with Rochdale Connections Trust (RCT).

Youngsters received certificates for completing the course on building a vision for their future on Wednesday 3 March.

Eat4energy Cafe also offered local primary schools the opportunity to take part in a pilot scheme to run workshops for their pupils covering other key issues including bullying and goal setting.

RCT Healthy Eating and Children’s Adventures in Wisdom Coach Rachel Earing said: “Having the right skills to deal with peer pressure, change and bullies who appear throughout your life cycle is the only way to combat stress, anxiety and our relationship with food. Yo-yo dieting should become obsolete as our understanding of keeping our stress levels balanced relates to what we eat.

“Teaching children how the mind works in relation to the food they put in their bodies will have a massive impact on generations to come, in decreasing mental health and obesity. It is so important to start this process from as early an age as possible.

“Parents send their children for football coaching and dance coaching without thinking twice. Coaching on feelings and what to say in situations should be just as available for children and adults.”
