Bus travel advice

Date published: 04 March 2016

A TfGM spokesman said: “Bus services across parts of Greater Manchester including Oldham, Rochdale and Tameside are currently being affected by heavy snowfall. As a result a number of bus services have been suspended or diverted and passengers should check with bus operators or visit the TfGM website (www.tfgm.com) to find out the latest information.

“In addition the parents of schoolchildren in Tameside, Oldham and Rochdale are urged to contact their local schools to check on finishing times and the availability of school bus services in their area and make alternative arrangements if necessary.

“Metrolink and rail services are currently unaffected by the conditions, but a close watching brief is being maintained and passengers should follow operators Twitter feeds or visit their websites for more information.

“Roads across Greater Manchester are also likely to be busier than usual as a result of the severe weather and drivers are encouraged to only drive where necessary and stick to the main roads if possible. Anyone travelling should take care and allow extra time and check before you travel.”
