Momentum Rochdale, Heywood & Middleton are giving full support to International Women’s Day

Date published: 02 March 2016

Momentum Rochdale, Heywood & Middleton are giving their full support to International Women’s Day on Tuesday 8 March.

The theme is ‘The Pledge for Equality’ in order to encourage gender equality in our society.

Women are still being held back in many walks of life. International Women’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate women’s achievement but also to help create a society where women and girls are able to reach their full potential by exploring the nature of these inequalities and how to address them.

The Rochdale Boroughwide User Forum (RBUF) Women’s Group will be holding events on Tuesday including workshops on women in sport, women in film and how women see themselves. There will be poetry, music, hand massage and local information from MIND and WHAG, plus free refreshments.

Momentum and RBUF will also be holding a candlelit vigil in support of and in memory of women who have suffered all forms of abuse and break the silence surrounding violence against women by demanding more support and justice for victims.

International Women’s Day

11.00am until 2.30pm 8 March at RBUF at 142 Drake Street, Rochdale OL16 1PU

8.00pm 8 March outside Rochdale Town Hall – Bring your own candle in a jam jar
