Before Christmas, students in Years 8 and 9 arranged to collect donations for Rochdale Foodbank. Thanks to kind donations from staff, students and parents/carers, we were able to donate 124kg of food. Unfortunately, the Foodbank’s premises were flooded during the holidays, losing a large amount of stock. The students reorganised the collection in January and were able to donate more food as well as raising £50 for the charity. Many thanks to all students, parents/carers and staff who donated items.

A massive well done to our Year 10 and 11 Enterprise teams who attended the Young Enterprise Trade Fair at The Trafford Centre on the 12 February. They produced some wonderful products and demonstrated excellent customer service skills when dealing with members of the public. In addition, their trade stands were attractive and really showed off their products well. They were a credit to the school and made a positive impression with the organisers of the event who commented on their helpful and pleasant attitudes.

Congratulations to the Years 7 and 8 swim team who won the swimming gala! They are now through to compete in the Greater Manchester School Games on Tuesday 15 March. Out of 14 races, Oulder Hill won 12! The team were: Emma Hughes, Holly Griffin, Isobel Pauline, Lucy Ratu, Sophie Mills, Maxx Wright, Ethan Steel, Bailey Boyd-Aust, Josh Power and Liam Fernandes. Thanks to Mrs Tosh for all her hard work and training with the team!

The Year 9 Boys’ Rugby team participated in their Greater Manchester ‘all schools’ competition, finishing 5th out of 7 schools.

The Oulder Hill team showed great heart and battled to the very end.

Their highlight of the day was winning the ‘derby’ against Siddal Moor in a tight 4-3 thriller.

The results on the day were: OH 1-5 East Manchester, OH 1-4 Woodhey, OH 5-1 Manchester Academy, OH 1-3 St Pauls, OH 2-3 Abraham Moss, and OH 4-3 Siddal Moor.

Well done to all the students who took part and represented the school (number of tries scored in brackets): Ben Whittaker, Mohammad Faisal (2), Harry Toogood, Eren Dincer, Saif Zulfiqar (5), Nick Sunderland, Ethan Pope (1), Muzamil Bashir (5), Zaki Bowden, Joe Moore, Hesaan Yousaf and Mohammed Hussain (1).
