National Audit Office says criminal justice system doesn’t provide value for money

A National Audit Office study has concluded that the criminal justice system is inefficient and doesn’t provide value for money.
Greater Manchester Mayor and Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Lloyd said: “This is a worrying report from the National Audit Office. The last thing we want is for victims of crime to become victims of the criminal justice system – the very system that is supposed to support them.
“The reasons for court delays are varied and complex – this is not a blame game. But the simple fact is that insufficient resources and inflexible archaic processes are failing victims.
“As Police and Crime Commissioner, I am responsible for commissioning victims’ services in Greater Manchester, which is why I am working closely with criminal justice partner agencies to push for reform and the creation of a justice system with victims at its heart.”
