Date published: 26 February 2016

Both males who were arrested on suspicion of Jalal Uddin’s murder have now been released on bail.

Greater Manchester Police has confirmed today (Friday 26 February) that the 21-year-old man, as well as the 17-year-old boy who were held in questioning are no longer held in custody.

Detectives investigating the murder executed a warrant on Ramsay Street, Rochdale on Monday 22 February 2016 and arrested a 21-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of murder and seized a Vauxhall Astra.

Detective Chief Inspector Terry Crompton of the Greater Manchester Police Major Incident Team said: “It has been just over a week since this tragic incident occurred and a significant amount of work has been done to find those responsible.

“Our investigation is continuing and we remain committed as ever to finding out the circumstances surrounding what happened to Jalal and I would like to thank the community for their patience and support whilst we carry out our enquiries.

“We are continuing to appeal for witnesses who may have been in the South Street area at the time of the attack and I would urge anybody with information to please contact police.”

Anyone with information should please contact officers at GMP’s Major Incident Team on 0161 856 4711 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
