Date published: 25 February 2016

Police have bailed a 17-year-boy following the murder of a man in Rochdale.

Detectives investigating the murder of Jalal Uddin executed a warrant on Ramsay Street, Rochdale on Monday 22 February 2016 and arrested a 21-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of murder and seized a Vauxhall Astra.

The 17-year-old boy has now been bailed until 20 April 2016 pending further enquiries.

The 21-year-old man remains in Police custody for questioning.

Detective Chief Inspector Terry Crompton of the Greater Manchester Police Major Incident Team said: “The investigation into this tragic incident continues and the professionalism displayed by everyone involved is testament to our commitment to finding out the truth.

“I would like to stress that whilst we remain open-minded about the motive behind this attack, there is currently no evidence to suggest that race was a factor.

“Additional police resources will remain in the area and I would like to thank the community for their engagement, support and patience as this investigation progresses.”
