Support Springhill Hospice with Tesco ‘Bags of help’ initiative

Date published: 23 February 2016

Springhill Hospice Community Garden, in conjunction with The Friends of Springfield Park (FoSP) group, is to receive funding from Tesco, Silk Street, Rochdale store from their ‘Bags of Help’ community support scheme.

However, exactly how much will depend on help from you, your friends and your families.

Between Saturday 27 February and Sunday 6 March at the Tesco, Silk Street, Rochdale store whenever you shop there, you may collect a special ‘token or tokens’, and there will be three different options to vote for.

The first, and most important to FoSP, is the Springhill Hospice Community Garden option box.

You may collect a token or tokens on every occasion you shop there between the above dates and regardless of how much you spend.

David Logan, from FoSP said: “We are guaranteed at least £8,000, but there could be as much as £10,000 or £12,000.

“To help place your tokens in the Springhill Hospice Community Garden box, thus ensuring that, out of the three community projects, the Springhill Hospice Community Garden receive the largest funding amount of £12,000.

“All of this money, whichever amount we receive, is allocated to renovating a neglected area of Springfield Park gardens, close to the grass tennis courts, into an ongoing, commemorative project under the responsibility of FoSP member, Roy Down, together with the Springhill Hospice, the Groundwork Organisation and Hopwood Hall College.

“Tell your family and friends that they consider supporting the Springhill Hospice Community Garden box, when shopping at the Tesco, Silk Street, Rochdale store.

“Thank you all in anticipation of your help.

“Our thanks also go to Tesco and its employees for this excellent community scheme, together with the Springhill Hospice, the Friends of Springfield Park group, our local Groundwork Organisation and Hopwood Hall College.”
