Littleborough Ladies Darts League present money to local good causes

Date published: 23 February 2016

Littleborough Ladies Darts League presented over £700 to two local 'good causes' at their annual presentation night held at Littleborough Conservative Club on Friday (19 February).

During the evening, the generous ladies presented a cheque for £554.70 to Littleborough Events and Associations Forum (LEAF) and another for £155 to the Pulmonary and Palliative Rehab and COPD Response Service.

Mary Poole, secretary of Littleborough Ladies Darts League, said "At the beginning of the year we took a vote on which local good cause we would raise money for this year and LEAF came out on top."

LEAF secretary, Simon France, said "LEAF is a team of volunteers who love Littleborough and want to help make it a nice place to live and visit by putting on free events for the public. We are truly grateful for this generous contribution which will really help us to continue to do so."

The Pulmonary and Palliative Rehab and COPD Response Service is based at Callaghan House in Heywood and covers Heywood, Middleton, Rochdale and Whitworth patients who have a respiratory or a palliative diagnosis in the community. As part of the Pennine Care Foundation Trust, they provide treatment in patients' homes or at community venue. They also work closely with the British Lung Foundation and the local Breathe Easy HMR group. The Breathe Easy HMR group is for anyone with a respiratory condition and they meet every first Wednesday afternoon from 1.30 - 3.30pm during March to December at Castleton Community Centre.

Michelle Hollick, physiotherapist, and Juliet Smith, physio assistant, accepted the donation on behalf of the service.
