James Woolhead, from Heywood, who threatened to kill his ex-partner, was given a 16 month suspended sentence, curfewed for three months, ordered to live at his parents' address for six months, ordered to do 120 hours unpaid community work and banned from contacting his ex-partner or entering Cullompton, Devon for three years.

Woolhead, 26, threatened to kill his ex-partner by stabbing her in the neck because he was upset at spending Christmas away from his baby son.

Formerly of Fulford Drive, Cullompton, but now of Old Bury Road, Heywood, Woolhead admitted having a knife in a public place, affray and making threats to kill.

He spent Boxing Day getting drunk and more and more depressed in a pub in Cullompton, he sent a series of texts and Facebook messages then went to his ex-girlfriend’s house armed with a knife.

Neighbours called the police after seeing him repeatedly stabbing a knife into the door of the house, the house was empty as his ex-partner was visiting relatives.

Woolhead was ordered to move away from Devon and live with his parents in Heywood.
