The number of people unemployed in the borough rose by 415 last month - bucking the national trend which saw a 60,000 drop in the jobless total.
A total of 4,165 locals were on Universal Credit or Jobseekers’ Allowance. The increase was largely due to seasonal jobs ending in January.
In the North-West, unemployment fell by 19,000 to 174,000 from October to December.
