13-year-old girl suffered facial injuries after being hit by car

A 13-year old girl suffered facial injuries after a car accident in Whitworth last night (Wednesday 17 February).

Police were called to Market Street shortly after 7.30pm, following reports that a black Volkswagen Golf had hit the girl on the junction of Alfred Street.

She was taken to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital by ambulance, where she was treated for a fractured nose and a lost front tooth.

Market Street was closed in both directions, but has since reopened.

The girl’s injuries are not believed to be serious.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Lancashire Police on 101 - quoting log number 1106.
