Police helicopter searched Falinge for woman

A police helicopter was circling the Falinge area last night (Wednesday 17 February) after a mentally ill woman went missing.

Officers were called to the area shortly before 7.30pm after reports that she there was a concern for the woman’s welfare.

The helicopter had a spotlight on the area and eventually found the woman, who had slipped and fallen down an embankment close to Lenny Barn.

An ambulance arrived on scene shortly after and she was taken to hospital.

Greater Manchester Police has confirmed that the woman is listed as having mental health problems and that concerns were high, but that she was found by 10.00pm.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Officers were called at 19.18pm to reports of a missing woman and that there was a concern for her welfare.

“The police helicopter was sent out and was searching the Falinge area. They were spotlighting the area and eventually found her, but unfortunately she had fallen down an embankment and was in need of an ambulance.

“She was later taken to hospital and is being treated for her injuries”.
