A pensioner has been charged with attempted murder after repeatedly driving his car into an 81-year-old man – leading to his leg being amputated.
Vincent Simpson, from Shawforth, impaled his victim on a concrete post during the attack on 27 August 2014.
The arteries of one of the victim’s legs was cut to the point he had to have his leg removed.
Lancashire Police were called to garages, near Old Lane, to reports that a man had been hit by a car.
It was later said by police that the defendant had had a “long-standing grudge” against the victim.
Simpson, now living in Pendeen, Penzance, had pleaded not guilty at Preston Crown Court to attempted murder, but pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
He is due to appear at Burnley Magistrates Court on 2 June.
