Singleton’s Dance Academy boogied their way to the top
Date published: 17 February 2016
Young ladies from Singleton’s Dance Academy boogied their way to the top at a special competition of performing arts, and came away with top prizes.
The girls, who are all aged between 12 and 14, were apprehensive about going against their older peers in the Festival of Performing Arts at Burnley Mechanics Theatre, but walked away with a star trophy.
Dancers Jenna Holt, Alana Percy, Abbie Holt, Melissa Hardman Brooke Gosling and Poppy Fletcher came out on top for their street dance performance, while Brooke Gosling and Abbie Holt also took first prize for a jazz performance.
Proud dance coach Gemma Singleton told Rochdale Online: “I have never been so proud of my girls. They were really young compared with the others that were taking part, and I think they were a little bit nervous being up against college girls, but they absolutely smashed it, I couldn’t contain my excitement when they won. There were four of us in the crowd, but it sounded like 400.
“Their professionalism and skills on that stage were truly amazing, these girls have a promising future in dancing.”
