Anna Friel is backing the campaign to keep Honresfeld Leonard Cheshire Disability Care Home open, following the shock announcement by Leonard Cheshire Disability that the home is to close at the end of March.

There are currently 22 residents being cared for in the centre, of various ages, all with a disability which requires them to be in specialist care. None of the residents currently have an alternative place of residence.

Anna said: “I am really shocked that Leonard Cheshire Disability can be thinking of closing their care home in Littleborough; 22 people with severe disabilities will be 're-located' from the place they have called home, some for 20 years or more. There is nowhere similar in this area and if people are moved a long way away, their families and friends may have great difficulty in keeping up the contact they have with them.

"The impact is not just on those in care, but across a wide spectrum of the community. This does not simply involve the closure of a home, but the breaking up of families, many of whom have tried so hard to maintain some semblance of normality under the worst of circumstances.

"How can this be right? Please re-consider this decision and protect the rights of these vulnerable people. Your community is watching.”
