Barry Cook celebrates retirement in paint – ‘A Time to Dance’
Barry Cook opened his exhibition of new paintings at Gallery One, Touchstones, Rochdale on Saturday 13 February.
There was a large lively gathering of 130 plus people at the opening event. Always a keen artist, Barry decided to celebrate his recent retirement with an exhibition of new paintings at Touchstones, Rochdale. He has exhibited over many years and has taken the opportunity to paint full time.
Barry paints with ink, watercolour and gouache. His contemporary paintings are vibrant, joyful and uplifting. They are inspired by nature, folklore and music.
Barry who lives in Todmorden was a primary school teacher for 36 years.
He taught in Rochdale for 31 years at Caldershaw Primary, Castleton Primary Special Speech and Language Unit and then finally with the RANS peripatetic school service based at Number One Riverside in Rochdale.
