Jamilla Paul Hair and Beauty has announced it is to close its doors for good after almost two decades in business.
The popular Nelson Street salon has officially gone up for sale today (Thursday 11 February), and will finally close on Saturday 5 March.
Owner Jamilla Paul, who moved to the United Arab Emirates a couple of years ago, said that she was hoping to keep the business going, but that the time has come to sell the building and say goodbye to her 18 year business “with a heavy heart”.
Jamilla said: “After a lot of speculation since my move to the United Arab Emirates a year ago I can now officially announce that I have finally found the strength to sell my amazing building and close my salon in the UK.
“This will not be a huge surprise to those close to me as they are aware I need to do this to enable me to move my career forward in the United Arab Emirates and on an international level.
She added: “I cannot thank all my wonderful clients enough, they have become great friends over the years.
"I wouldn't like to imagine how many amazing clients and haircuts we have serviced over the last 18 years but it must be in its millions.
“Without your support over the many years we would never of been the huge success we have been and me personally and on behalf of my teams over the years, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
Rochdale Town Centre Manager Mark Foxley said: “This is sad news and it is a sad loss for Rochdale to lose such a great business like Jamilla Paul Hair and Beauty, but I wish Jamilla the very best for the future and I hope all the staff will settle elsewhere and continue the good work in the borough.”
Salon manager Clare Brophy said: “I’m really sad that this place is going to close after 17 years working here. Thankfully a lot of staff have found spaces in other local salons. We are still going to be around in the town centre to fit our clients’ next appointments in."
All appointments are booked in as normal by calling the salon on 01706 644216.
