The works being carried out to replace old metal gas mains on Hare Hill Road, Littleborough, are expected to be completed by Friday 19 February.
A National Grid spokesperson said: “We’re carrying out work to replace old metal gas mains with modern plastic pipe in Hare Hill Road, Rochdale.
"We expect to have finished renewing the pipe by this Friday (5 February) with just a couple of days’ work next week to restore the road surface.
“The new gas pipes will last at least 80 years once they are buried and so should provide the people of this part of Rochdale with a safe and reliable gas supply for many decades to come.”
“Steve Reay, highways services manager at Rochdale Borough Council, said: “National Grid gas workers are currently operating on Hare Hill Road as part of their statutory undertaking. We expect the works to be completed by Friday 19 February.”
