Date published: 21 January 2016
Forty five students from Year 9 from three schools across Greater Manchester; Falinge Park High School, Abraham Moss Secondary School, Saint Ambrose Barlow Secondary School and Performing Arts College, met together for the first session of the ‘Speaking For Ourselves’ Project on Friday the 15 January 2016.
The session took place at Hopwood Hall College Studio Theatre on the Middleton Campus and the students participated in three extended workshops titled ‘Who Was I?’, ‘Who Am I?’ and ‘Who Will I Be?’
The sessions explored notions of identity, community and British Values.
The students became great friends over the course of the day and explored powerful issues surrounding the lives of young people in today’s society.
Thanks to all the students and staff who took part.
The next session takes place in just over a week’s time.
