Rochdale Sixth Form College top DfE league tables for third year running

Rochdale Sixth Form College has topped the Department for Education’s performance league tables to be named the best college for value added performance in the country for the third year running.

Value added scores are calculated by looking at the progress students have made in subjects since joining a college. The score is evidence that students at Rochdale Sixth Form College make more progress in comparison to students at any other college in the country. Rochdale Sixth Form College beat over 200 institutions in the UK to achieve top ranking, scoring significantly higher than the sixth form college in second place at 0.32.

Prior to 2010, as a local authority, Rochdale was ranked in the bottom 10% for value added performance and 147th out of 150 local authorities for A level performance.

Since Rochdale Sixth Form College arrived in 2010 A Level performance has gone from strength to strength. The College was the first sixth form college in the North West to achieve an ‘outstanding’ Ofsted classification under the latest Ofsted framework and they now sit comfortably at the top of the tables for the third year in a row, an unprecedented achievement.
