Shane Stott jailed after malicious Facebook sex video

Date published: 20 January 2016

Shane Stott, 18, of Shawclough, has been jailed for four years after posting an explicit video and phone number of a girl on Facebook after she rejected his advances.

Stott contacted the girl through Facebook to arrange a meeting, but reacted with malice when she failed to comply, posting her mobile number alongside a video of a different girl, and wrote that the victim would perform sex acts if the number was called.

The victim subsequently received between 25-30 calls.

Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court also heard that Stott had previously messaged another young girl in June 2014, who later confirmed that sexual activity had taken place. Stott was arrested and later released on bail.

Between September 2014 and April 2015 Stott had sex with two underage girls after exchanging messages on the internet.

Stott pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault of a female under 13, two counts of sexual activity with a child under 16 and one count of stalking involving fear of violence.

He was sentenced to four years in a young offenders institute and four years on licence, and was added to the sex offenders register for life.
